The Science of Serums! – Gatineau Skincare

      The Science of Serums!

Serums are often very misunderstood when it comes to skincare. I can remember in my 20’s thinking that serums were pointless (and very expensive) and that my moisturiser could do everything for my skin.  But when I started to get a few tell-tale lines (faint to begin with) and my skin started to lose its natural glow I realised I needed to up my skincare routine and it became very clear that a serum was going to be my new best friend!
Serums are a real game changer when it comes to improving multiple skin problems. Think of a serum like the main course of a 3-course meal. After kicking things off with an appetizer (i.e cleansing your face) and before treating yourself to dessert (i.e a protective and nourishing moisturiser), you fill up on the main course and all of the important nutrients that comes with it (i.e a serum).

Serums are skin care products that are designed to deliver high concentrations of specific (and potent) ingredients into the skin. In fact to be more specific, Gatineau serums are supercharged with triple the concentration of active ingredients compared to that of our moisturisers and so it makes them incredibly industrious, offering quicker and more targeted results. They have lightweight textures as the molecules found inside them are much smaller than moisturisers and this permits delivery of potent anti-ageing, firming, hydrating and radiance boosting actives to the skin cells that need them most.

Take our award-winning Collagene Expert Ultimate Smoothing Serum, (the title speaks for itself) loaded with a triple collagen complex (that’s 3 different types of marine collagen each of different molecular weights) which sink into both the deeper and surface layers of the skin inflating and smoothing EVERY line and wrinkle from within, as well as locking moisture into the skin, leaving it quite literally with a seamlessly smooth finish.

And our newest ‘serum on the block’ is all about ‘perfecting an uneven skin texture’. Whether it’s uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, redness and quite frankly anything that just isn’t perfect then Perfection Ultime Perfecting Cream-Serum is a match made in heaven!  It’s got the comfort of a feather-light cream, but the potency of a serum and it really does what it says on the tin!  Enriched with ‘Neurophroline’ from Wild indigo Extract it is like a ‘de-stress express’ to skin cells breaking down cortisol levels (cortisol is the hormone that induces redness and accelerates the ageing process) and soothing skin irritations. I love the idea that a serum can reduce stress and tension in the skin. It also contains Centella Asiatica (or Cica as otherwise known) and White tea extract and Centell- two ingenious ingredients with high levels of antioxidants which protect the skin, combat free radical damage and quite frankly address any signs of ‘wear and tear’ leaving skin looking saintly.

And that brings us to the ‘creme de la creme’ in our wardrobe of serums - and actually it’s more superior than a serum, it’s an ‘Elixir’. Our Age Benefit Ultra-Regenerating Night Elixir is what I call a ‘one stop age defying shop!’ Formulated with the highest concentration of Age benefit technology (it’s 3 times more potent in strength than our other serums) it is designed to hit the skin cells’ re-set button attacking the key signs of cellular slowdown and delaying the ageing process. What’s more, this Elixir is genius as it works whilst you sleep, targeting numerous skin concerns and actively diminishing lines and wrinkles, fading dark spots and supporting the skin’s elasticity. This silky, overnight ‘cell recovery’ elixir is the ultimate way to get the best beauty sleep!

So in the quest for perfect skin or if you want to overhaul your complexion and give your skin back its health then I suggest you reach for a serum (it really does pack an almighty punch!)
And when it comes to using any Gatineau serum, the saying ‘less is more’ really fits the bill - you only need to use one pump of product underneath your moisturiser both morning and night. You really will see amazing results!
